Grandma et Grandad sont venus passer un long weekend chez nous (notamment pour faire du Oscar-sitting pendant que nous allions a un cours de preparation a l'accouchement et visiter la maternite!). C'etait un super weekend pour venir nous voir car il y avait plein de choses organisees a l'ecole: le vendredi soir, il y avait la fete de l'ete, avec jeux, tombola, etc...
Grandma and Grandad came to spend a long weekend with us (also for Oscar-sitting as we had the antenatal class and we visited the maternity ward at hospital!). It was a great weekend to visit as there was lots of things going on at Oscar's school: on the Friday afternoon, the summer fair...
Nous sommes alles visiter le plus grand vignoble d'Angleterre, a Dorking...
We went to visit the biggest vineyard in the UK, in Dorking...
Et avons utilise notre nouveau barbecue pour la premiere fois!
And used our new barbecue for the first time!
Un peu de jardinage pour les hommes... mais il faisait tres chaud!

Et enfin, le lundi matin, c'etait le jour du sport a l'ecole d'Oscar! Ils ont courru 3 courses: une normale, une course d'obstacle ou ils devaient s'habiller en pompier en plusieurs fois (enfiler le gilet, puis le casque puis prendre le tuyau), et une course en portant un oeuf sur une cuillere (traditionnelle ici!). Oscar a bien courru et s'est beaucoup amuse, malgre la chaleur et le soleil de plomb!
Then on Monday morning, it was Sports Day at school! The kids ran 3 races: a normal one, a rescue race (they had to dress as a fireman in 3 stops, vest, hat and hose) and an egg and spoon race. Oscar ran very well and had lots of fun, despite the heat and the burning sun!
Et le dernier jour, nous sommes alles au jardin de Wisley pour une petite visite... admirez les magnifiques nenuphars!
And on the last day, we went for a short visit to Wisley garden... look at the beautiful water lilies!
Nous avons eu le plaisir de pouvoir diner avec Great Grandma Jean, Margaret et Simon, comme GGJ etait de passage ici apres son sejour chez Catherine aux Etats-Unis. Nous sommes alles manger dans un pub pres de chez nous et Oscar a meme ete sage pendant tout le repas!
We were delighted to be able to go out for diner with Great Grandma Jean, Margaret and Simon, as GGJ was here for a few days after her trip to Catherine's in America. We went for a nice pub diner close to where we live and Oscar even behaved during the meal!
West Wittering... j'aurai jamais cru trouver une plage comme celle-ci ici! Elle etait en theorie a seulement 1 heure et demi de voiture... bon il nous a fallu pres de 3 heures pour y parvenir car des que le soleil brille, tous les Anglais veulent en profiter!!! Mais ca valait le coup... sable fin, chaleur et soleil... eau un peu fraiche mais les enfants, Oscar et son copain Luke, ont quand pu jouer dans l'eau. La derniere photo pour vous montrer le seul enfant en bottes sur la plage!!! Oscar a deteste le sable fin (et comme je le connais bien, j'avais tout prevu!).
West Wittering... I would never have thought to find a beach like this over here! It was theoretically only 1 hour and a half drive ... it took us nearly 3 hours to reach it as Brits are rushing there as soon as the sun is shining! But it was worth it... white sand, sun... water a bit cold but the kids, Oscar and his friend Luke, could still play in the water. The last picture is to show you the only child with wellies on a beach!!! Oscar hated the sand (as I know him quite well, I had planned for it!).
