Un grand garcon maintenant - A big boy now

Oscar grandit beaucoup en ce moment: son langage evolue de jours en jours mais aussi l'apprentissage de la proprete (aller sur le pot et meme sur les toilettes maintenant!). Il faut dire qu'il y a une motivation: pouvoir aller a l'ecole en Septembre!!! Il adore se regarder dans le miroir et courir en slip Toy Story...

Oscar is growing a lot at the moment: he speaks more and more every day, and we are doing the potty training (he even goes on the big toilets now!). There is a big incentive: being able to go to school in September!!! He loves to look at him in the mirror and to run in his Toy Story pants...

Et puis il y a eu la fete des "Daddys", comme on dit chez nous, qui etait le meme jour qu'en France et en Angleterre (plus facile a se rappeler que la Fete des Meres!): Oscar avait bien sur prepare une surprise pour son Daddy...

Then there was Father's Day (well we say Daddys' Day at home), which was on the same day than in England and France (much easier to remember than Mother's Day!): Oscar had prepared a nice surprise for his Daddy...

Au revoir Poonam, Bonjour Ohana! - Bye bye Poonam, Hello Ohana!

Depuis Lundi, la nounou habituelle d'Oscar, Poonam, est partie en vacances... elle va manquer a Oscar (et a nous aussi!) et Oscar va lui manquer apparemment aussi beaucoup, il faut dire qu'il l'occupe bien! Oscar retournera chez elle apres nos vacances en Europe a la fin du mois d'Aout.

Since Monday, Oscar's nanny, Poonam, is on holidays... Oscar will miss her (so do we!) and she will miss Oscar a lot as well apparently (as he keeps her very busy!). Oscar will go back after our holidays in Europe at the end of August.

Oscar va donc aller dans une creche americano-japonaise pendant 3 semaines, Ohana (qui veut dire "famille" en hawaien, car cette creche est d'inspiration hawaienne - Hawai n'est pas tres loin d'ici!). Le premier jour a ete dur, et le 2eme matin aussi, mais depuis, il veut y rester le soir! On prend le train (2 arrets seulement) pour y aller, ils vont au parc tous les jours quand il fait beau, ils se brossent tous les dents apres le dejeuner, et plein d'autres choses interressantes!

Oscar is going for the next 3 weeks in an american/japanese day care, called Ohana (which means "family" in hawaiian, as this place is from a hawaiian origin - Hawaii is not very far from here!). The first day and the second morning were tough but since then, Oscar wants to stay there when I pick him up! We go on the train (only 2 stops), they go to the park everyday (when the weather is nice), they all brush their teeth after lunch, and a lot of other interesting things!

Super Kodomo no Kuni! - Great Kodomo no Kuni!

Nous avons ete visiter samedi dernier le parc Kodomo no Kuni ("pays des enfants" apparemment). Nous voulions absolument profiter d'une des dernieres (la derniere?!) journees de beau temps avant la saison des pluies. Elle a d'ailleurs commence depuis, des lundi matin, avec de tres fortes pluies tous les jours ou presque, et une chaleur (30 degres) et une humidite comparable a l'interieur d'un sauna (ceux qui ont deja fait l'experience apprecieront!!!). L'ete va etre rude...

On Saturday, we went to visit the Kodomo no Kuni park (which seems to mean "children's land"). It was planned to be the last nice day before the rainy season starts, so we absolutely wanted to make the most of it. The rainy season has actually started since Monday morning and it is raining all day long more or less everyday, with a very high temperature (30 degrees) and extremely humid atmosphere, just like in a sauna (the ones who know what being in a sauna looks like will appreciate!). The summer period promises to be tough...


Bref, nous avons passe une super journee! Il faisait tres chaud donc entre les visites aux animaux et les maneges, nous cherchions les ombres! Mais heureusement, tout est prevu ici, et il y avait un petit ruisseau artificiel amenage pour que les enfants marchent dans l'eau fraiche, Oscar a adore!!! Nous nous sommes promis d'y retourner car la piscine, qui n'est ouverte que l'ete (qui, ici, ne commence officiellement qu'en Juillet, donc toutes les piscines exterieures sont encore fermees meme s'il fait deja 30 degres... passons!), etait donc fermee et elle a l'air super.

Well, we had a lovely day! It was hot so we were looking for the shade! Fortunately, there was a little artificial river, especially made for the children to walk in the water, Oscar loved it! We absolutely want to go back to this park as the swimming pool seems to be great but it was close on that day. It is only open in the summer period, which starts officially only in July here (even if this is already 30 degrees outside!!!).

Voyage en train (enfin, 3 trains) et un peu plus d'une heure (ca se merite!):

1ers maneges: des helicopteres, qu'Oscar adore reperer dans le ciel depuis notre baie vitree:

Puis un panda anime (on ne pensait pas qu'il roulait en mettant une piece: heureusement que Mark etait monte aussi!)

Then an animated panda (we didn't think it was actually moving forward when we put a coin: luckily Mark was on it as well!)

Puis la partie avec les animaux: poneys, vaches, moutons, poules...

Then the part with the animals: poneys, cows, sheep, chicken...

Et bien sur, la partie ou on peut carresser cochons d'inde et lapins!

And obviously, the part where you can stroke guinea pigs and rabbits!

Et puis la partie preferee d'Oscar (en tout cas, ce jour-la ou il faisait tres tres chaud): l'eau! D'abord la riviere a descendre en marchant

Finally Oscar's favorite part (at least on this day where it was really hot): the water! First the river where you can walk in...

Puis les choses serieuses commencent, on enfile le costume de bain (apparemment, obligatoire pour les petits dans les piscines), et plouf! a l'eau!

Then we took it serious and Oscar put his new swimming suit on (apparently, it is mandatory for the little ones here in the swimming pools), and splash! in the water!

Et apres tout ca, une bonne sieste dans les trains du retour!

After all this, a nice sleep on the trains back home!

La plage d'Enoshima - Enoshima beach

Nous avons ete a la plage d'Enoshima, qui est une des plus pres de chez nous. Normalement, on met 1 heure en train mais comme nous avions eu l'excellente idee d'y aller en voiture, c'etait plus pres de 2 heures de trajet!!! Erreur a ne pas reproduire! En arrivant, nous avons realise que c'etait en fait la 1ere fois qu'Oscar voyait la mer de pres et allait a la plage... il etait content mais un peu peureux aussi! Il ne s'est pas trop approche de l'eau (encore froide) et il n'a pas vraiment aime marcher dans le sable... mais il a bien aime jouer avec son seau et sa pelle... et il en a conclut "on retourne?"!

We went to the Enoshima beach, which is the closest from home. You usually need a 1-hour journey on the train to get there but as we had the brilliant idea to go by car, it took us nearly 2 hours! Never again! When we arrived, we realized that it was actually the 1st time for Oscar to go on a beach and see the sea... he was happy but also a bit stressed out! He didn't get close to the water (which was a bit chilly) and he didn't like walking on the sand... but he enjoyed playing with his bucket and shovel... and he concluded "we go back?"!

1er gateau d'anniversaire japonais - 1st japanese birthday cake

C'etait bien notre premier vrai gateau japonais, et je dois dire que ca a plu a tout le monde! Tres proche de la succulente patisserie francaise... et Oscar a ete du meme avis que nous! On a donc celebre mes 33 printemps il y a quelques jours, et Oscar m'a bien sur aide a souffler les bougies. Depuis, il me chante "Joyeux Anniversaire" quasiment tous les jours!

It was our first ever proper japanese cake, but we can say that it was a success! It was very similar to the delicious French patisserie, everybody loved it, Oscar as well! We celebrated my 33rd birthday a few days ago, and Oscar obviously helped me to blow the candles. He actually still sings "Happy Birthday"to me more or less everyday ever since!
