C'etait la 1ere fois qu'Oscar allait passer une semaine complete tout seul chez Papy et Mamie a la Collange... il etait tout excite et tout fier! Il a eu droit de jouer dans un parc desert comme ce n'etait pas les vacances en France mais malheureusement, il a aussi eu droit au brouillard epais a la fin Mai!!! Mamie a donc du improviser des seances peinture, pate a modeler, cuisine, etc... mais aussi heureusement, des promenades en tracteur, et meme faire du bois ou assister a la capture d'un essaim! Il a aussi ete visite la "ferme" chez Odile et Dominique... le meilleur resume etait dans la carte qu'il a ecrit tout seul a Grandma et Grandad (voir traduction plus bas!).
It was the 1st time that Oscar was going for a full week holiday on his own at Papy and Mamie's in la Collange... he was very excited and very proud! He could play in a park just for himself as it was not the school holidays in France but unfortunately, he also had to cope with the fog at the end of May!!! Mamie had to put together indoor activities like painting, play dough, cooking, etc. fortunately, he could also enjoy some tractor rides, chopping and piling up some wood logs, witnessing some bees to be captured! He also visited all the animals that Odile & Dominique have... the best summary was in the postcard he wrote on his own to Grandma and Grandad (see translation below!).
"We hope you have a happy week at home. I am happy at Papy and Mamie. Merci pour la crepe. Love from Oscar Tordoff." Grandma and Grandad had given Oscar some money to treat Papy and Mamie!
Ce qui veut dire: "Nous esperons que vous passez une bonne semaine a la maison. Je suis content chez Papy et Mamie. Merci pour la crepe. Bisous d'Oscar Tordoff." Grandma et Grandad avaient donne un billet a Oscar pour inviter Papy et Mamie!
Nous avons ete visite Dimanche dernier les studios ou ont ete filme en partie les films de Harry Potter. C'etait une sortie organisee par le travail de Mark et comme Oscar ne connaissait pas du tout l'histoire jusqu'a tres recemment, on lui a permis de regarder les 2 premiers films. Il a bien sur adore! Alors la visite a ete vraiment super... on a vu plein de decors que l'on voit dans les 2 premiers films, la voiture bleue volante ou Oscar etait tout excite de monter, le journal intime de Jedusor, l'entree de la chambre des secrets, la maison d'Hagrid, etc. Oscar a meme pris son 1er cours pour apprendre a manier la baguette magique! C'etait tres interessant, beaucoup de choses ont ete faites a la main specialement pour les films, et Oscar est ressorti de 4h de visite enchante et plus bavard que jamais!
We visited the Harry Potter studios last Sunday, it was organized by Mark's social club at work. As Oscar didn't know the story at all, we showed him the first 2 films beforehand. He really enjoyed them! The visit was excellent... we saw lots of sets from the first 2 films, the blue flying car which Oscar loved, Tom Riddle's diary, the entrance of the chamber of secrets, Hagrid's house, etc. Oscar even received his first magic wand lesson! It was very interesting, lots of things were hand-crafted especially for the films, and Oscar came out after a 4 hour visit all excited and as talkative as he can be!
J'ai eu la chance de pouvoir beneficier d'une 3eme echo au travail, comme Philips fait des echographes... et nous etions ravis du resultats! Regardez ces magnifiques images du petit dernier... un peu serre c'est sur, mais on devine deja le nez des Filliat et le menton des Rodary! On verra s'il aura lui aussi les yeux des Tordoff!
I was lucky enough to get a 3rd scan at work as Philips is making ultrasound machines... and we were happy with the results! Look at these beautiful pictures of the latest addition to the family... he is a bit squashed already but we can already guess the nose from the Filliat family and the chin from the Rodary family! We will see later if he's got the blue eyes of the Tordoff family!
On est de retour! Enfin juste pour un weekend... en Hollande! Nous avons ete profiter d'un dernier weekend a l'etranger a 3 debut Mai et nous avons eu la chance d'avoir le soleil avec nous! Le Rijksmuseum qui venait de re-ouvrir etait magnifique, le Vondelpark aussi et les canaux... Nous avons fait une balade de 1h30 en barque et Oscar a meme eu le privilege de tenir la barre!
We are back! Well at least for a weekend... in Holland! We enjoyed a last weekend abroad as a family of 3 for the bank holiday weekend early May and with a beautiful weather! The Rijksmuseum just re-opened and was looking gorgeous, the Vondelpark was magnificient and the canals... We did a canal cruise on an open boat for 1 and a half hour and Oscar could even stear the boat on his own!
Nous avons aussi rendu visite a nos amis Anne-Sophie, Ludwig et leur petit Joachim qui venaient tout juste de demenager de Guildford a Amsterdam... ils vont nous manquer ici, mais ca nous fera une bonne excuse pour retourner en Hollande plus souvent!
We also visited our friends Anne-Sophie, Ludwig and their son Joachim who just moved from Guildford to Amsterdam... we are going to miss them here but it will be a perfect excuse for us to go in Holland more often!
Puis nous avons pris le train pour aller passer la journee a Den Bosch... un petit Chocomel avant de partir (qu'Oscar a apprecie malgre la photo!!!)... quel bonheur de retrouver cette jolie ville pleine de souvenirs pour quelques heures... et nous sommes bien sur retournes dans notre cafe prefere, Bagels and Beans, et devant notre ancienne maison, ou Oscar a bien profite du parc.
Then we took the train to go for the day in Den Bosch... a Chocomel just before setting off (which Oscar liked by the way, unlike the picture shows!!!)... what a joy to see this beautiful town again, with all the memories we have there... we visited our favorite places, like Bagels and Beans and our former house, where Oscar played a lot on the outdoor games.
