Escapade au chateau - Getaway in a castle
Mon reve a toujours ete de vivre dans un chateau... il s'est realise pour 2 jours dans les Cotswolds juste apres Noel! Nous avons visite ce magnifique coin d'Angleterre avec malheureusement le fameux climat britannique!

Noel dans le Nord - Christmas in the North
Nous avions decide de ne pas visiter les 2 familles cette annee a Noel pour moins courrir et avoir un peu le temps de se reposer. Nous sommes alles passer quelques jours chez Grandma et Grandad et Oscar a ete ravi de retrouver Louis. Ils ont passe de bons moments ensemble, en particulier le matin de Noel...
We decided this year that we were not going to visit the 2 families to get some time to rest properly instead of running around. We spent a few days at Grandma and Grandad's and Oscar was thrilled to see Louis again. They played nicely together and enjoyed every moment... especially Christmas' morning...

Saison de la Nativite - Season of the Nativity Play
Ici, avant Noel, il y a de nombreuses traditions... l'une d'entre elle est que les enfants prennent part a des pieces de theatre retracant la nativite de Jesus. Oscar a participe a celle de notre Eglise ou il etait l'aubergiste accueillant Joseph et Marie, et a celle de son ecole ou il etait un narrateur, habille en etoile. Il s'est tres bien debrouille dans les 2!
Oscar was this year again involved in the Nativity Play... but at 2 places! One at church where he was the innkeeper, and one at school where he was a storyteller. He did very well in the 2 plays, knew his words and spoke very clearly!

9 a la maison! - 9 at home!
Pour les vacances de Toussaint, on a eu le plaisir de recevoir Papy et Mamie, Raphael, Irene, Matheo et David... 9 en tout a la maison! C'etait un peu serre pour manger dans la cuisine mais c'etait convivial! Les enfants en ont bien profite et ont bien joue ensemble. Nos invites ont visite un peu les environs de Guildford et ont passe une journee dans Londres.
For the school holidays early November, we were happy to have Papy and Mamie, Raphael, Irene, Matheo and David at home... 9 in total! It was a bit tight to eat all in the kitchen but we managed it! The children played well together and our guests could visit a bit the area around Guildford and spent also a day visiting London.
Quand David est reparti, Papy et Mamie sont restes un weekend de plus et ont garde Oscar pendant que nous avons passe 24h en amoureux! On a passe un bon moment... et Oscar aussi!
After David left, Papy and Mamie stayed for a weekend and looked after Oscar for us to spend 24h just the 2 of us! We enjoyed it... and Oscar as well!
A notre retour, nous avons fete les 64 ans de Papy avec un bon dejeuner au pub!
When we got back, we celebrated Papy's 64th birthday with a nice lunch at the pub!

Visite de Legoland... paradis! - Legoland visit... paradise!
Nous avons profite d'un beau dimanche d'Octobre pour aller visiter le fameux Legoland... le paradis pour Oscar! Nous avons passe une excellente journee dans une mini-ville Lego avec de tres beaux monuments semblant etrangement familiers et des jeux qu'Oscar a adore.
We took the opportunity of a sunny Sunday in October to go and visit the well known Legoland... a paradise for Oscar! We enjoy very much the day in a miniature city with very nice monuments and games which Oscar loved!

La grande ecole a l'anglaise - Big School!
Et oui... ca aura finalement ete a la mode anglaise... qui aurait pu deviner lorsqu'Oscar est ne a Den Bosch il y a 4.5 ans! Oscar a donc commence la grande ecole ici, en Reception class comme on dit, et doit porter son uniforme tous les jours.... il a de la chance car a partir de 7 ans, c'est chemise, cravate et veste obligatoires! Il etait tres fier d'y aller et apres 3 semaines, il est toujours tres content! Pourvu que ca dure encore 20 ans...!
Who could have guessed... when Oscar was born in Holland 4.5 years ago that he would start at big school in England?! He started Reception class with his brand new purple/white and grey uniform. He was really proud and he is still happy to go after the first 3 weeks... hope it lasts for the next 20 years...!

Oscar decouvre Paris - Oscar discovers Paris
Nous avons ensuite passe une semaine a Paris, pour retourner aux endroits que nous aimions quand nous y habitions et pour faire decouvrir cette magnifique ville a Oscar. La 1ere decouverte a ete eprouvante: pour eviter la tres longue queue pour monter a la Tour Eiffel, nous avons opte pour le billet Escaliers... et 669 marches plus tard, Oscar est arrive le 1er!!! Il a adore monter, descendre et admirer la vue de la-haut.
For our 2nd week of holidays, we spend some time in Paris to go back to places we were used to love when we lived there and to show this beautiful city to Oscar for the 1st time. The 1st attraction was a bit tiring: to avoid the long queue at the Eiffel Tower, we decided to go for the Stairs tickets... and 669 steps later, Oscar arrived 1st at the top!!! He loved going up and down, and looking at the view from up there.
Nous sommes retournes au Cafe Rostand, en face du Jardin du Luxembourg, la ou Mark et moi nous sommes vus pour la 2eme fois... il y a plus de 11 ans...et nous avons ensuite marche a travers tout Paris: Notre Dame, la Tour Saint Jacques, le Louvre, le Jardin des Tuileries pour finir vers Opera. Oscar nous a epate en marchant sans meme raler!!!
We visited the Cafe Rostand, in front of the Luxemburg Garden, where Mark and I met for the 2nd time ... more than 11 years ago... and we walked across Paris for the whole day: Notre Dame, Saint Jacques Tower, The Louvre, The Tuileries Garden to end up at the Opera. We were amazed by how much Oscar walked without complaining!!!
Nous sommes aussi retournes dans notre restaurant japonais prefere (mais nous avons maintenant compris que les employes sont en fait chinois!) et la aussi, Oscar nous a surpris... il a adore les sushis, et avec les baguettes SVP! Notre passage au Japon aura finalement laisse plus de traces qu'on ne le pensait...
We also went back in our favorite Japanese restaurant (but we now understood that the employees are actually Chinese!) and here as well, Oscar astonished us... he loved sushi and ate them with his chop sticks! Our short stay in Japan might have left actually more things than anticipated...
Puis la journee tant attendue est arrivee: Disneyland! Oscar devait etre certainement le seul visiteur a ne vouloir voir qu'une seule chose... Malefice, la mechante sorciere de la Belle au Bois Dormant! Heureusement, nous avons trouve un vitrail la representant!!! Il a danse comme un fou quand le train amenant les personnages est arrive... et Goofy l'a meme salue! La journee s'est finie avec la parade qu'Oscar a adore, il etait vraiment emerveille...
Then the long awaited visit finally came: Disneyland! Oscar was probably the only visitor who was only looking forward to seeing one character... Maleficent, the horrible witch in Sleeping Beauty! Luckily, we were able to find a window where she was portrayed!!! He was all excited dancing when the train with the main characters came along and he even had a hug with Goofy. The parade at the end of the day was the highlight and Oscar was really mesmerized...
Et nous avons aussi pu voir des amis notamment Marianne et Terence, Nadia, Rosa et leur parents, Monica et Victorien... et beaucoup d'autres lors du mariage de Anne et Ben le dernier jour de nos vacances.
And we could also enjoy to see friends like Marianne and Terence, Nadia, Rosa and their parents, Monica and Victorien... and many others at Anne & Ben's wedding on our last day of holiday.

La derniere visite etait pour la Villette ou nous avons vu un film en 3D a la Geode et ou Oscar a experimente toutes sortes de choses a la Cite des Enfants.
The last visit was at la Villette where we saw a 3D film in the Geode (spherical cinema below) and where Oscar could experiment all sorts of interesting things at the Children's World.
Et nous avons aussi pu voir des amis notamment Marianne et Terence, Nadia, Rosa et leur parents, Monica et Victorien... et beaucoup d'autres lors du mariage de Anne et Ben le dernier jour de nos vacances.
