Noel en Auvergne - Christmas in the Auvergne

Cette anne, c'etait au tour de l'Auvergne de nous avoir pour Noel (on aime bien alterner). On est donc parti en avion de Londres, via Amsterdam pour arriver a Clermont-Ferrand. On a eu un invite avec nous pendant toutes les vacances: l'ours voyageur de l'ecole, prenome "Beau"...bizarre mais c'est un prenom ici! On avait pour mission de prendre des photos rigolotes de tout ce qu'on allait faire pendant notre voyage avec lui... et de bien nous occuper de lui bien sur!

This year, we spent Christmas in the Auvergne. We flew from London to Clermont-Ferrand via Amsterdam. We had a guest during our holidays: the traveling bear from pre-school, Beau. We had to take funny pictures with him during our trip... and obviously to take good care of him as well!

 

Une fois a la Collange, Oscar a ete ravi de retrouver ses cousins, et d'apprendre des nouvelles choses, comme jouer au Monopoly our faire du cidre.

At la Collange, Oscar was pleased to see again his cousins and to do new things like playing Monopoly or making fresh apple juice.

 

Et puis le jour de Noel est arrive avec le debut d'une longue serie de cadeaux!

And then it was Christmas day, with the beginning of a long series of presents!

 

Et le plaisir du traditionnel repas de famille!

And the pleasure of a traditional family meal!

 

 

 

Nous avons eu des visites ou fait des visites aux autres cousins et amis... Jeanne et Paul, Louis, Anthony et Hermione.

We also had visits or made visits to other cousins or friends... Jeanne and Paul, Louis, Anthony and Hermione.

 

 Et puis ca a ete vite le jour de repartir, sous le soleil... et avec une belle vue du Puy de Dome!

Then it was quickly time to go back, on a very sunny day with a nice view on the Puy de Dome!

Une fois a la maison... oh surprise! Le Pere Noel etait aussi passe ici!

One we arrived at home... surprise! Father Christmas has been here as well!

Pantomine et chants de Noel - Pantomine and Christmas carols

Il y a beaucoup de traditions ici autour de Noel. Outre la nativite jouee dans toutes les ecoles, il y a le pantomine et aussi les chants de Noel, religieux ou non.
Nous avons decide d'aller voir un pantomine au theatre de Guildford, appele Jack et le haricot magique. Oscar a bien evidemment adore les chants, les danses, les deguisements, l'histoire, etc... et il reparle encore souvent du mechant auquel on fait "bouhhh" des qu'il rentre sur scene!

There are many traditions here around Christmas. Next to the nativity play performed in all schools, you can go to the pantomine, to listen to Christmas Carols, etc.
We decided to go to Guildford's theater to see Jack and the beanstalk. Oscar loved obviously the songs, dances, the story, etc. and he sometimes still refers to the nasty man for who we all went "booohh" when he entered the stage!

Nous avons aussi ete au service des Chants de Noel a notre eglise. Il y a eu plusieurs chants de Noel et un chante par les enfants. Comme Oscar le connaissait, il a rejoint le groupe et a chante avec les plus grands enfants. Il y avait ensuite les tartelettes de Noel (mince pies) et du vin chaud. C'etait tres sympa.

We also participated to the Christmas Carols at our church. There were several carols and one of them was sung by the children (Away in a manger), Oscar joined the group as he knew the words. There was afterwards mince pies and mulled wine, it was very nice and friendly.

La nativite a l'ecole - Nativity play at the nursery

Comme annonce, Oscar a chante et joue un des Rois Mages dans la piece de la nativite jouee a l'ecole. Ils ont repete les chansons depuis Octobre, il y avait 5 chansons au total, et beaucoup de parents etaient ravis de venir ecouter leurs petits anges, moutons, bergers ou autre... Oscar a bien joue son role, arrivant sur son chameau et offrant de l'or au petit Jesus. Il etait ravi!

As announced, Oscar played the role of one of the Kings in the nativity play at the nursery. The children were rehersing the 5 songs since October, and lots of parents were delighted to come and listen to their angels, sheep or sheperds... Oscar played very well the King, coming on his camel and offering gold to Baby Jesus. He was thrilled!

C'etait l'occasion de prendre des photos des travaux d'Oscar faits a l'ecole qui sont affiches sur les murs... il adore ecrire, ce qui n'est apparemment pas le cas des autres garcons!
It was an opportunity to take pictures of the work Oscar is doing at school... he loves to write, which is apparently not the case of all the other boys!

11 a la maison et bientot Noel! - 11 at home and Christmas is coming!

Nous avions des invites hier, Dave et Sarah, avec Nadia et Rosa, et Marion et Bruno, avec Isla et Ben... 11 en tout a la maison! Heureusement qu'elle est grande! Tout ce petit monde s'est bien entendu, Oscar etait le plus grand (!) mais il n'y a pas eu de chamaillerie... juste une maison en champ de bataille a la fin! On a tous hate de remettre ca apres les fetes...

We had guests yesterday, Dave and Sarah, with Nadia and Rosa, and Marion and Bruno, with Isla and Ben... 11 at home altogether! It is a good job that the house is big! Everybody had lots of fun, Oscar was the oldest one (!) but there was no fighting... only that the house looked like a war zone at the end of the afternoon! We are all looking forward to meet again after the holidays...

Et puis nous preparons Noel a l'anglaise... avec l'envoi des cartes de Noel en Decembre, mais cette annee, Oscar a insiste pour signer toutes les cartes lui-meme! Regardez! Et nous allons aller l'admirer dans la piece de la nativite a la creche Mardi, suivi de plusieurs invitations vin chaud/tartes de Noel d'ici les vacances... a suivre!

And we are getting ready for Christmas English way... we are writing our Christmas cards but this year, Oscar insisted to sign them all himself! Look! And on Tuesday, we are going to see him in the Nativity play at the nursery, and several opportunities for mulled wine/mince pies before the holidays... more to come!

Fetes d'anniversaire! - Birthday parties!

Il y a environ 25 enfants qui frequentent la meme classe qu'Oscar a la creche, ils ne sont en general pas tous la ensemble, heureusement! Certains ne viennent que 3 jours, d'autres 4, etc. Mais c'est quand meme d'autant d'occasion de fetes d'anniversaire! Oscar a ete invite a sa 1ere fete ici, celle de Bella, qui avait 4 ans. Ca s'est passe dans une salle de jeux, comme il y en a beaucoup ici, tout est prepare pour la fete... il n'y a plus qu'a payer! Comme vous le voyez, Oscar s'est bien amuse... et il faisait un peu chaud! (Desolee pour les photos qui ont ete prises avec notre telephone).

There are around 25 children in Oscar's class at the nursery, they are not all attending all days, some only 3, some 4... but it is still so many opportunities to be invited to birthday parties! Oscar was invited to his 1st one here, Bella's birthday party, who was turning 4. It was in a soft play, where Oscar had lots of fun... but he was also very hot! (Sorry for the pictures, we took them with our phone).

Et la 2eme fete, celle d'Austin... avec le jeu de "Passe le paquet" (on prepare un petit cadeau entoure de plusieurs couches de papier, le paquet tourne, et quand la musique s'arrete, l'enfant qui l'a dans les mains, enleve une couche de papier, ou il y a en general des bonbons, et ainsi de suite jusqu'a ce que le dernier enfant tombe sur le cadeau). Il y a eu aussi un coach sportif (pour enfants) qui est venu pendant 45 min pour faire jouer tous ces petits!

And the 2nd one was Austin's birthday party... with the "pass the parcel" game and some games with a coach (for about 45 min)... to keep the little ones busy!
