Le Quartier Chinois - Chinatown

La semaine derniere nous sommes alles nous promener dans le quartier chinois. Oscar a mis, pour la premiere fois, son blouson "England", un cadeau de Dave et Sarah. Il est pret pour la Coupe du Monde en tant que supporter de l'equipe d'Angleterre!

Last week we went for a wander round Chinatown. Oscar wore, for the first time, his "England" jacket which Dave & Sarah bought him for his birthday, and he looked great in it! He's ready for the kick-off of the World Cup as a true England supporter!


























































Nous avons trouve un tres joli temple chinois, le temple Mazu, pas tres loin de chez nous.

We found a very nice Chinese temple, the Mazu Temple, not far from where we live.




















































































































Oscar a ete chanceux, il y avait un parc juste derriere le temple !
Fortunately for Oscar, there was a playground just behind the temple !




















Ensuite nous avons trouve le celebre temple Kan-Tei-Byo datant de 1867, qui est vraiment magnifique. Kan-Tei est celebre comme le Dieu du Business (ou des marchands) puisqu'il aurait invente les regles de comptabilite utilisees autrefois dans la societe chinoise.

Then we found the famous Kan-Tei-Byo temple from 1867, which is really magnificent. Kan-Tei is worshipped as the God of Business (of the merchants) as he might have invented the rules of bookkeeping which was used in ancient Chinese society.
































































































Les ornements de ce temple sont extrement detailles, et tres colores.
This temple has incredibly detailed and very colourful decorations.

Vous vous souvenez peut-etre qu'Oscar a eu un chapeau chinois pour aller a une fete d'un collegue de Papa, qui fetait le nouvel an chinois il y a quelques semaines. Et bien, Oscar porte toujours ce chapeau. Il l'adore vraiment, et parfois il l'emmene au lit avec lui! Parfois il insiste pour le mettre lorsque nous sortons, et cela en fait rigoler plus d'un. Son autre passe-temps prefere, c'est de rentrer (en courrant pour nous echapper) dans chaque magasin devant lequel nous passons. Faire une promenade dans une rue commercante avec Oscar, cela peut donc prendre tres, tres longtemps! Voici Oscar, avec son fameux chapeau chinois, en train de rentrer, et ensuite danser, dans la boutique Louis Vuitton ! Les vendeuses du magasin avait l'air assez amuse, mais je pense que l'image d'Oscar dans son chapeau chinois en train de danser dans un magasin Louis Vuitton ne colle pas vraiment avec l'image de marque qu'ils essayent de creer aupres de la riche clientele japonaise !

You may remember that we bought Oscar a Chinese hat to go to a party organized a few weeks ago by one of Daddy's colleagues, to celebrate Chinese New Year. Well, Oscar still loves wearing that hat, and sometimes he even takes it to bed with him! Sometimes when we go out, he insists on wearing it, and it generally creates quite a few amused smiles from passers-by. His other favourite hobby is dashing into every shop we go past. Going for a walk with Oscar along a street full of shops can take a long, long time! Here's Oscar, with his famous Chinese hat, first dashing into, then dancing around in, the Louis Vuitton shop! The sales people in the shop were quite amused, but I think the image of Oscar dancing around the Louis Vuitton shop in his Chinese hat doesn't fit too well with the brand image which Louis Vuitton have spent millions of pounds trying to create !
